Jeff: I have found that using a small fan on high speed helps create some noise to help block the tinnitus noise. Does not work completely for me, but helps....

Jeff, I don't know how practical this is, but it works for me. A fan at night helps me sleep - point it at the ceiling or something, it's the soft white noise...
